Social Media
What is social media content?
Social media content is everything a business publishes on social platforms: posts, images, video, links and commentary. It can be native, created for the platform, or repurposed from longer material such as blog articles. The most sustainable approach for lean teams is usually a mix: substantial content produced once, then adapted into platform-appropriate posts.
Native and repurposed content
Social content comes from two places. Native content is created for the platform, a comment on industry news, a behind-the-scenes photo, a poll. Repurposed content adapts substance that already exists, typically blog articles reshaped into posts. Lean teams sustain consistency by leaning on repurposing for the backbone, every article yielding several posts, and adding native content where there is genuinely something to say.
What actually works for small businesses
The recurring pattern across platforms is that specificity and evidence outperform announcements. The post that shares a real observation from client work, the mistake seen three times this month, the before-and-after; these earn attention because they contain something. “We are pleased to announce” posts, corporate reshares and generic tips mostly do not. The bar is the same as for articles: would a customer find this genuinely worth a moment?

Repurposing articles into posts is covered under content repurposing; posts are planned on a social media calendar, released via scheduling, and written in the business’s brand voice.
